The newest sculpture to come out of the studio of Blake Senini is another commission for an international hotel. This time his sculpture is destined for Beijing. Senini carved Two Angels, One Bad One using maple wood rather than his usual birch. The maple possess a wonderful reddish tinge in the wood. This red undertone lends a deeper base for Senini's black stain creating a richness of colour. The surface of Two Angels… is more intricately carved than his previous works; with deeper undulations of the front face of the wall-mount sculpture.
Over the past few years Senini has been working on private and public commissions including the $150,000 public art piece Turn, Turn, Turn for the Medicine Hat Esplanade. Likewise, Senini has been focused on a new body of art that will consist of sculptures created from wood as well as steel plate. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and details.
