The work of Patrick Lundeen explores supremacy and assimilation of pop cultural images into broader dialogue. Undermining the authority of easel painting, and aligning his painting more with advertising than fine art, Lundeen paints his iconographic of fallen heroes, pop idols, and domestic objects on cut-out custom canvas and tarps. Lundeens, intricate and overworked surfaces and deliberately discordant perspective, creates pictorial landscapes that-by virtue of simultaneous familiarity and estrangement - destabilize the viewer and provide an effective point of entry into his work.

Born in Canada, in 1978, Patrick Lundeen graduated from the painting program at the Alberta College of Art in 2002. Lundeen received his MFA from Concordia University in Montreal, in 2006. His work has been exhibited in Great Britain, Sweden, and across North America. In 2004 he was a Regional Finalist in the prestigious RBC: Canadian Painting Competition. His work can be found in collections such as the Glenbow Museum, The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and private collections in Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, Canada and the USA.
